Nowadays cubebs are used only infrequently in western cooking. In Indonesian cuisine, however, they are still an essential ingredient, and in the Arab world we often find them in tagines and lamb stews. Cubebs are also an ingredient in the spice mix Ras el hanout. The cubeb aroma blends powerfully with red meat, game and even chocolate.
